At well under $20, this opulent, small batch pinot gris is superb buying. Coney have developed an enviable reputation for their full-flavoured aromatic Martinborough wines, and their 2020 'Piccolo' Gris showcases the plush palate weight / luxe mouthfeel that this boutique producer is known for. One sip and you'll instantly know that this Reserve level wine was not meant to be sold for this price!
Inspired by the great wines of Alsace, 'Piccolo' is a complex style that is packed with detail. Produced from handpicked fruit, it's rich and opulent with lingering spice notes, but retains the vibrance and and youthful characteristics that make another glass such an obvious choice. Judicious lees stirring has added further depth and texture to those primarily pear and citrus flavours. It's excellent!
