Named after unique Brassknocker soils which the McArthur Ridge vineyard is planted in, this is a fine example of Central Pinot from a producer who has been making a huge name for themselves in recent years. This may be their 'entry level' pinot release, but there is nothing entry level about this wine. It's recently scored a huge accolade - winning the Trophy for Top New Zealand Pinot Noir at the International Wine Challenge this year. The IWC is one of the world's biggest wine shows, and receiving the this trophy is an absolutely tremendous achievement.
Still very youthful, it has generous, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, good complexity, and the lasting impression is very balanced and complete. Cellar over the coming 3-5 years to see a deeper broodiness emerge.
