Produced from handpicked, best of vintage fruit, 'SQM' Chardonnay is an excellent, genuine Limited Release from Squawking Magpie's much lauded, upscale 'SQM' range. With extra investment in individually numbered bottles, the winery clearly knew that they had something special on their hands with this small batch release - and after one glass you'll know it too.
Blessed with exceptional fruit from the outstanding 2021 Hawke's Bay vintage, it's wonderfully textural and balanced with hallmark Hawke's Bay Chardonnay characters of golden peaches, butterscotch and obvious oak influence. A subtle flinty note and lingering oak spice adds further complexity and a final stamp of quality.
Tasting note
100% barrel fermented, this sophisticated wine is a powerful, textural and beautifully balanced. Aged in a mixture of new and older French barriques adds complexity.
