We've said it before, but this is one of the most crazy deals you'll ever see. Strictly while stocks last. Be quick - buy heaps.

This premium Barossa Shiraz typically sells for $450 AUD in Australia - which equates to approximately $495 NZD per bottle. With the effects of the trade spat between Australia and China still ongoing, we were approached to sell a parcel of this wine under the radar in New Zealand as a mystery deal* to move some of the capacity that China would normally account for.

Named Australia's Best New Producer by the Penguin Wine Guide and amongst the Top 10 Australian Wineries by Decanter Magazine, this wine comes from a super-premium producer and is a testament to that reputation.

As the 99pt score makes clear, this is world class, super-premium shiraz in a style that showcases the Barossa with elegance and understated power. It represents the very pinnacle of Barossan winemaking and is a truly wonderful investment for any collector of premium wines. Read the reviews below to reassure yourself what's on the table here.

2022 was a superb growing season in Barossa, with fruit of amazing quality despite small yield - and you will immediately recognise the underlying power and palate-weight here, despite this being a relatively young wine. The nose opens with seductive choco-berry, spices and blackcurrant notes that further develop to a palate that is deeply concentrated, and complete. The finish is rich yet elegant, with refined texture and beautifully woven tannins. The finish goes on forever. It has tremendous cellar potential and will continue to drink well over the coming two decades.

Tasting notes

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit: "A compelling rendition, exhibiting blackberry, charcuterie, olive, star anise, cedar and dark cocoa characters on the nose. The powerfully expressed palate is both graceful and sturdy, combined with refined texture and beautifully woven tannins, leading to an impressively long, seamless finish. Totally captivating and seductive."  99pts.

Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot: "The colour here is a deep, dark, near black/purple. The nose just screams all class, and there are notes of chocolate, aniseed, smoked meats, blackcurrants, spices, violets, plums and a little Christmas cake. The texture is seductive, supple and very much part of an impressively constructed wine while the oak is handled superbly. There is great length through to silky tannins, bright acidity and near perfect balance. A stunner which will drink beautifully for the next fifteen to twenty years." 97pts.

Ray Jordan: "This is the result of sourcing fruit from Hewitson vineyard and other growers and then performing a barrel cull to get this final blend. It's such an elegant and stylish expression of the Barossa, that in many ways is atypical. Yet there is the deep concentrated intensity and richness, but it's presented and displayed with a finely poised elegance. The palate length is a feature as it bounces along to an extraordinarily long finish." 96pts.
