Portonova is an exceptional, full cask strength single malt whisky from the prestigious Amrut distillery in India. It is carefully matured in a blend of new American oak and ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in once-used port pipes from Portugal before being aged in ex-bourbon casks once again. The name Portonova pays homage to the town of Parangipettai (also known as Portonova) in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, located on the east coast of India.
Tasting note
This single malt boasts an exotic and vibrant profile on both the nose and palate, overflowing with flavors of raisins, vanilla, cherry liqueur, and spices. The result is an incredibly smooth experience on the palate, even at full cask strength.
