The famous Kavalan distillery in Taiwan use casks which have previously held red and white wines, before being re-toasted, in order to mature their Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique expression. This unique process fully matures the Taiwanese single malt, resulting in a bold and expressive flavor profile, featuring notes of berry, plum, and caramelized sugar. This exciting Taiwanese whisky has received a Gold Medal and scored an impressive 91 out of 100 at the Los Angeles Wine & Spirits Competition.
Tasting note
A deep golden hue characterizes this whisky, offering a combination of vanilla, caramelized sugars, and dark chocolate. Notes of ripe melon, mango, kiwi, and a subtle blend of citrus fruits are followed by hints of pepper in the background. This bouquet provides an array of sensory delights. The complex flavors, reminiscent of the finest malt whiskies, culminate in a long-lasting aftertaste.
