Here’s a proper little French bargain. Southern France really knows how to do everyday reds, and Symbiose Fitou 2021 is a textbook example. A syrah/grenache blend that balances ripe, juicy berry fruit with a lick of spice and a more serious, lightly grippy finish, it’s the kind of wine that feels generous without being heavy.
There’s plenty of flavour here - think plump blackberries, cherries, and a touch of peppery lift, but it’s wrapped up in a smooth, medium-bodied style that makes it dangerously drinkable. Just a proper, honest French red that will have you pouring a second glass before you know it.
Whether you’re lining it up with pizza, barbecued meats, or just a midweek wind-down, this bottle absolutely nails that bang-for-buck brief. At this price, it’s hard to imagine a better way to stock the rack.
*PRO TIP: We suggest decanting before service - no need for fancy gear - even a simple pyrex jug will do the trick.
Tasting note
Symbiose Fitou opens with an inviting bouquet of ripe red and black fruits - blackberries, dark cherries and a lift of raspberry brightness. On the palate it’s immediately juicy and generous, with grenache bringing lush, sweet-fruited charm and syrah adding a darker line of spice, pepper and subtle savoury notes.
