Savoia Americano Rossa is a modern Italian aperitivo with serious heritage behind it, created by spirits heavyweight Giuseppe Gallo using a recipe that dates back more than 130 years. Named Aperitivo dell’Italia Unita, it’s a celebration of Italy coming together in the glass, blending Vermouth from Torino, Bitter from Milano, and Marsala from Sicily into one beautifully balanced, wine-based aperitivo.
It starts with 100% Trebbiano grapes, picked and processed without additives or sulphites, then layered with over 20 hand-selected botanicals to build structure and gentle bitterness. The final touch is 14 month oak-aged DOC Marsala, which adds depth, warmth and a rounded, savoury richness. The result is familiar yet distinctive, incredibly drinkable on its own and a brilliant upgrade in classic aperitivo cocktails.
This is one of those bottles that quietly elevates everything it touches. Pour it long with tonic or soda and lemon, build an Americano, swap it into a Negroni-style serve, or try it 2 to 1 with dry gin for a lighter, more aromatic twist.
Tasting Notes
Bright red fruits and citrus peel lead the way, followed by herbal bitterness, warming spice and a subtle savoury depth from the Marsala. Smooth, gently bitter and dry through the finish, with excellent balance and freshness.
