Also known as petite sirah (which sounds polite, but trust us - there’s nothing ‘petite’ about it). The 2021 vintage of this stunner hauled in four gold medals, including a massive Double Gold and jaw-dropping 98/100 at the NZIWS - one of only two in its category to pull off such a win! To receive a Double Gold Medal, the wine has to score a Gold Medal from every judge in the both the initial and recall round of tasting. We reckon this latest vintage is also a surefire winner and an absolute bargain at this price point.
Made by the Aussie winemaking legend Johnny Quarisa, the man behind the heavy hitters like Shot in the Dark and 30 Mile, this is juicy, perfumed red with immediate appeal. Deep, dark and seductive, with a lavish core of ripe black fruits and floral lift, it's wonderfully integrated with plush tannins and a long finish.
