Over the past 20 years Ant Mackenzie has crafted fantastic wines for some of the biggest names in New Zealand wine. Now, under his own banner, he has created a multi-tier range of wines with Theory and Practice range pitched as "contemporary wines with a creative edge".
This robust chardonnay bucks the modern trend and shows all the stonefruit, buttery, oaky and creamy characteristics that traditional chardonnay lovers adore. There's wonderful fruity purity, richness and complexity thanks to barrel fermentation and ageing. A new classic. Highly recommended.
Tasting note
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit: "Wonderfully ripe and complex, the wine shows grilled peach, vanilla, roasted hazelnut and brioche characters on the nose. The palate is equally satisfying with excellent weight and creamy mouthfeel, splendidly framed by juicy acidity, finishing delicious and lingering."
