Bruichladdich
Bruichladdich has stood on the shore of Loch Indaal since 1881, built by the Harvey brothers as Islay's most westerly distillery and still running from much of its original Victorian building. Production stopped for seven years until investors led by Mark Reynier bought the site in 2000 and restarted it in 2001, keeping the old copper pot stills rather than replacing them. Rémy Cointreau has owned the distillery since 2012, and it remains one of the more distinctive stories in Easy Tiger's wider whisky range.
That old fashioned approach carries into the whisky itself, made entirely unpeated and built on barley grown with local Islay farms as part of a terroir project the distillery pioneered in 2004. It is reduced to bottling strength using Islay spring water, giving a clean, barley forward character apart from the smokier single malt whisky most people associate with the island.
