Buffalo Trace is one of the oldest working distilleries in the United States, with records of distilling on its Frankfort, Kentucky site stretching back to 1775. The name honours an ancient buffalo crossing along the nearby Kentucky River, and the distillery has traded under it since 1999, after earlier names such as O.F.C. and George T. Stagg. It kept running through Prohibition by producing whiskey for medicinal use, and the site is now a National Historic Landmark, one of the more storied names in Easy Tiger's wider whisky range.

The bourbon is made using hand selected grain and limestone filtered water, then aged in charred new oak barrels inside warehouses dating back to the 1880s, each with its own microclimate. That mix of old buildings and old recipes gives it a rounded, slightly sweet character built on corn, vanilla, and caramel, a solid introduction to American bourbon.
