Captain Morgan

Captain Morgan takes its name from Sir Henry Morgan, a seventeenth-century Welsh privateer who raided Spanish ports across the Caribbean before being knighted by King Charles II and appointed lieutenant governor of Jamaica. The rum itself began life in Jamaica in the 1940s, built around a spiced recipe first blended by a pharmacy in Kingston for warmth rather than for cocktails. That spiced style still sits at the heart of our wider rum range today, now produced under Diageo's ownership.

Spiced rum earned its reputation as an easy, approachable pour, and Captain Morgan remains one of the more laid back bottles behind any home bar, equally at home over ice or topped up with cola.
