It is widely acknowledged that Clearview's prowess with the chardonnay grape has few peers and its is a credit to them that, as a relatively small producer, they offer one of the most diverse and compelling chardonnay ranges in the New Zealand market. Coastal is their fruit driven model with oak adding a voice to the conversation without taking over proceedings. The 2024 is a perfect interpretation of mid-weight, moderately oaked Hawke's Bay Chardonnay. It is fresh and vibrant but with enough creamy palate weight to keep everyone happy. Go long.
Tasting note
Barrel fermentation in old oak and lees stirring offers complexity, delivering a characteristic purity underpinned by natural acidity. Sea shell minerality gives way to a ripe, rich stonefruit flavour profile.
