Holland Road Grapefruit & Kawakawa Gin
Holland Road's Grapefruit & Kawakawa Gin is one of those gins that quietly wins people over from the very first pour. Crafted on a premium sugarcane base, this hand made London Dry starts with traditional botanicals steeped in raw Kanuka honey before a slow six hour distillation in a custom copper pot still. The final touch is vapour infusion through organic seasonal pink grapefruit and locally sourced native kawakawa leaf, giving it a distinctive New Zealand twist.
Awarded Gold at the 2022 New Zealand Spirits Awards and Bronze at the Australian Gin Awards 2023, this is a beautifully clean and expressive gin. Bright citrus from the grapefruit lifts the juniper core, while kawakawa brings a gently peppery, native herbal edge. There is a smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel with delicate hints of butterscotch that round everything out. It is easy to love with a classic tonic or soda, but it also opens up in interesting ways when paired with more adventurous mixers.
Tasting Notes
Fresh pink grapefruit and juniper lead the nose, followed by a subtle native herbal character. The palate is smooth and citrus driven with gentle spice, soft honeyed sweetness and a floral lift. The finish is clean, refreshing and lightly peppery with lingering citrus.
