Benriach Malting Season Batch 1 Whisky 700ml

Built in 1898 by John Duff, the BenRiach Speyside Distillery stands out as one of the only distilleries to have its own on-site floor malting and uses water sourced from the nearby Burnside Springs.

This is the debut of Benriach's Malting Season range, highlighting the distillery's floor maltings. Representing a milestone, this special release is crafted solely from barley malted on the historic floor at Benriach. Each year, the distillery manually malts barley on this floor for one month, with the resulting harvest being used for this unique expression.

Distilled in November 2012, this whisky was then matured in a blend of bourbon and virgin oak barrels.

Tasting Notes

The aroma offers a combination of pear drops and Campino sweeties, as well as earthy barley and a touch of cut oak for equilibrium. Upon tasting, expect flavors of vanilla, lemon, grassy malt, toffee, and melted butter on crumpets, with a long-lasting sweetness of caramel and vanilla pod on the finish.
