National Distillery The Reserve Chardonnay Gin is a bold, barrel-aged New Zealand gin that pays tribute to the country’s world-class Chardonnay heritage. Made in Napier by National Distillery Co., it starts with a bright, juniper-led gin before being aged in ex-Clearview 2013 Reserve Chardonnay oak barrels. That time in oak adds serious weight and richness, bringing buttery barrel character, bold structure, and a big creamy texture that sets it well apart from a classic dry gin.
This limited-release expression leans proudly into a richer, more old-school Chardonnay style, with the ex-Clearview casks giving the gin a distinctly 1990s-inspired mix of buttery oak and full-bodied texture. At 44% ABV, it has enough power and structure to work beautifully as a neat sipper, though a premium tonic also lets the barrel-aged character shine without covering it up. It is a standout option for gin drinkers who like their spirits bold, textural, and unmistakably shaped by oak.
