Introducing Whistlebird Gin - a revolutionary new gin that has been distilled with sound! That's right, distilled with sound.
This is one of the most spectacular releases we've come across in the New Zealand spirit world.
Whistle bird was created by two madmen in Wellington, with a garage full of lab-grade equipment, a crazy idea, and a serious passion for gin.
They came up with their own unique and efficient method of distillation, by putting their botanicals in a bath of sound (dubbed the bird bath) engulfed by low frequency wave lengths which sound like a high pitched whistle.
Maceration occurs when these sound waves uniformly break down their botanicals through vibration, which harnesses more flavour from each ingredient, in a far quicker and more efficient distillation - ultimately ending up with a superior yield of gin on the other side.
As mad as all this sounds, we tried the gin - and it is seriously good. It starts with an extraordinary nose, which instantly shows off just how much flavour has been extracted from their 18 botanical recipe. To taste - it's citrus forward, nice and dry, with a lovely sweetness to it, floral spice notes dance around the juniper, ending with a long smooth finish.
Overall just a fantastic gin. Classic and versatile, with a symphony of flavours you could never get bored of.
