Skippers Dark Rum is a proper old-school dark rum with plenty of richness and weight, made in Guyana in the classic Demerara style. Distilled from sugar cane and molasses, then aged in oak casks before blending, it delivers the kind of full-bodied profile that works just as well with cola and lime as it does in richer rum cocktails. There is a bit of heritage here too - Skipper was originally launched in 1930, and it still leans into that traditional, no-nonsense rum character.
This traditional dark rum is packed with the deep, comforting flavours you want from the style, with caramel, treacle, vanilla and toffee all showing up across a smooth, rounded palate. Some retailers also note that it is a blend of seven Demerara rums, oak-aged for at least three years, which helps explain the extra depth and richness in the glass. It is a great pick for anyone after a dependable dark rum with real flavour and a more classic feel.
