Introducing Mullet Wines - the brand that is taking over Australia and shaking up the booze industry with their new approach to wine. Just like the name, these wines are business in the front - party in the back.
Corey and Nick - AKA the Mulletmasters - have been making wine for years - you name it they’ve done it. Small vineyards, hands-off, open top fermenting - yah de yah. Beautiful, sure - but a tiny bit boring no? The lads thought it was time to stir things up and make some wines that rocked a seriously unique style.
As they've proudly claimed: "Wine snobs will hate them, everyone else will love them." - these wines have been built with fun at the forefront - fruitier, sweeter flavour, higher alcohol, and a super-long party finish.
Mullet Hard Shiraz
Loud, proud and built to party, the Mullet Hard Shiraz is here to bring the noise. Loaded with fat fruit flavour and a good wallop of oak, this is a no-nonsense red that’s all about bold taste and good times. Made for meat, mates and messy nights, it’s big, boisterous and ready to crack open. Like the mullet it’s named after - sharp up front, loose out the back.
The 2024 vintage was a ripper. Cold start, mild season, low yields - perfect for pumping serious flavour into the berries. Only the chunkiest, ripest grapes made the cut, handpicked early in the morning and chucked straight into open ferments. A solid stint in mostly French oak, plus a cheeky lees-aged portion for a bit of polish, and this beast was bottled with zero fluff and maximum punch.
Tasting Notes
Huge hit of dark berries, plum and sweet spice on the nose, followed by a fat slab of black forest cake, dark choc and pepper on the tongue. Oak's in there too, but not in a wanky way. Big, rich, chewy as - it fills your gob and sticks around for ages.
