Vinted from Central Otago Pinot Noir by one of New Zealand's finest winemaking teams, this is hands down New Zealand's most sought after rosé year after year.
First created back in 2006 when winemaker Malcolm Rees-Francis cheekily diverted some premium Pinot Noir grapes destined for Rockburn’s flagship red, Stolen Kiss quickly took on a life of its own. Malcolm has nailed the style that has won this Central Otago cult classic its devoted following and this new 2026 vintage bursts with just-off-dry upfront strawberry fruits and finishes with a perfectly balanced lick of fresh acidity that brings your palate back to earth.
Long term fans of this much loved wine will be delighted with this new 2026 vintage. It's fantastic. If you haven't had a Stolen Kiss moment in your life, you really don't know what you're missing.
Tasting note:
Cameron Douglas MS: "The 20th release of this wine - a style that resonates with so many rosé fans - aromas and flavours of fresh red and white strawberry, red apple skin and a light stony mineral quality. A just dry wine with a generous creamy satin mouthfeel with fine fruit tannins framed by acidity and core youth freshness. A wine for Summer and the next two years ahead. Best from day of purchase through 2029."
David Walker Bell, Wine Folio: "Still identifiably rosé in colour, but with a shining coral colour, and made from Pinot Noir (this is Central Otago), it has an expected bouquet of cherry, strawberry, rose petal and dried herbs. But also takes its own turn with bubblegum, poached pear, red liquorice and candied peel. Off dry and with such juiciness that it feels almost medium in style, it is certainly voluptuous and characterful. Breezy acidity and a soft, creamy texture. This is bright, juicy and, the geeks are probably right – not too serious. I do think one thing though – it would be a great wine to serve with pavlova! And that’s not an easy plate to match. Or enjoy as an aperitif."
John Bartlett, The New Zealand Wine Directory: "In the glass, glossy clear, & pretty pale salmon pink coloured. In the nose it’s inviting & fresh with aromas of sweet raspberries, strawberries & cream, ‘toffee apple’ & smoker lollies as well. On the palate, sweet red cherry & red berry fruit flavours, there’s a creamy, silky mouth-feel & the crisp citrus acidity is balanced with 9.5 g/L RS resulting in a delicious, long juicy off-dry finish. A very quaff-able, ‘lip smacking’ rosé."
The winery writes "Crafted from 100% Central Otago Pinot Noir, the 2026 vintage is bright, breezy, and utterly irresistible. Bursting with playful notes of candy-floss, strawberry, crème brûlée, and a cheeky hint of toffee apple, it’s a juicy, joyful ode to sunshine, long lunches, and precious moments."
