Villa Maria Reserve Gimblett Gravels Cabernet Merlot 2021 (6x750ml)

Another excellent Gimblett Gravels release under the Villa Maria Reserve umbrella. The 2021 is vinted from 55% cabernet sauvignon and 45% merlot, and this soft and concentrated wine is drinking well now but will really come into its own after a few years in the cellar. The wine shows unmistakable cabernet characteristics that are supported by elegant, drying tannins. Previous vintages have garnered absolutely stellar reviews from important wine critics. A great buy.

Tasting note

This densely coloured Gimblett Gravels red blend displays layers of dark berries and black doris plum, mingling with floral and spice nuances. The palate is rich and concentrated with a generous mid-palate framed by finely  textured tannin and integrated oak. While a little shy in its youth, this wine will open up and gain complexity from careful cellaring.
