With its Cuban roots and simple ingredients, the Mojito has stood the test of time. All it takes is a quick muddle, a bit of stirring, and you’ve got a cocktail that always hits the spot.

Classic Mojito Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 50ml white rum - we recommend Stolen White but any white rum should do!

  • 25ml lime juice

  • 15ml sugar syrup (or 1 tsp sugar)

  • A handful of fresh mint leaves

  • Soda water

  • Ice

  • Mint sprig and lime wedge, to garnish

Method:

  1. Add the mint leaves, lime juice and sugar (or syrup) to a tall glass.

  2. Gently muddle (bruise) the mint to release the oils - don’t bash it to bits, just a soft press.

  3. Add the rum and fill the glass with ice.

  4. Top with soda water and give it a gentle stir.

  5. Garnish with a fresh sprig of mint and a lime wedge.

Easy Mojito Variations

  • Strawberry Mojito: Muddle a few strawberries with the mint and lime.

  • Spiced Mojito: Use a spiced rum like Sailor Jerry for a warmer, bolder flavour.

  • Coconut Mojito: Swap sugar syrup for coconut syrup and garnish with toasted coconut for a tropical twist.

Final Tips

Fresh is best. Ideally use fresh lime juice and definitely use fresh mint - dried won’t cut it. Adjust the sweetness and lime to taste, and don’t skimp on the ice. A good Mojito should be cold, crisp and loaded with flavour.
