Routin's Red Vermouth is a classic French vermouth with serious heritage. First created in 1883 by Philibert Routin in Chambéry, this original Alpine recipe has been preserved for more than a century by La Distillerie Des Alpes. Built on a blend of French Sauvignon and local Jacquère wines, it is infused with a complex mix of 24 botanicals including wormwood, clove, lavender, coriander and vanilla, giving it a beautifully layered bittersweet character.
What really sets Routin Rouge apart is its unique ageing process. Half of the finished vermouth is matured in oak barrels before being blended with unaged vermouth to achieve the perfect balance of freshness and depth. The result is rich and aromatic without feeling heavy, with spice, herbal notes and gentle sweetness all working together. It is excellent served simply over ice with an orange twist, but equally shines in classic cocktails like a Negroni, Manhattan or Americano.
Tasting Notes
Aromatic and herbal with clove, lavender and gentle spice on the nose. The palate shows bittersweet citrus, soft vanilla and warming botanical depth with hints of dried fruit and spice. The finish is smooth, lightly bitter and elegantly balanced.
