Fortaleza Reposado Winter Blend is one of the most coveted releases on the calendar, from one of tequila’s true cult producers. Made at the historic Fortaleza distillery in Jalisco using traditional methods including stone tahona crushing, open wooden fermentation, and copper pot distillation, the Winter Blend takes the house’s already exceptional Reposado and layers in additional cask complexity. Produced in limited quantities and released only periodically, it is the sort of bottle collectors hunt down quickly when it appears. Fortaleza’s distinctive hand-blown style bottle and instantly recognisable presentation only add to the sense of occasion.
This exceptional 2025 release blends classic Fortaleza Reposado with portions of Still Strength tequila matured in French oak casks previously used for Passito di Caluso, an Italian sweet wine. Those casks bring extra fruit, spice, and vinous depth to Fortaleza’s unmistakable cooked-agave core, resulting in a richer and more layered expression than the standard Reposado. Expect roasted agave, citrus peel, caramel, toasted nuts, mineral notes, warming spice, and tart flashes of cherry and tamarind through a long, complex finish. Bottled at 46%, it is a serious sipping tequila and a genuinely special addition to any Fortaleza collection.
