Gotas de Mar Ribiero Godello 2023 (6x750ml)

We were excited to taste this godello with the trademark Gotas de Mar stripes - and it was love at first glass for us!

If you're new to Spanish Godello, think of it as delicious mash-up of riesling, albarino and chardonnay. It's aromatic,  refreshing and laden with lush citrus flavours - but carries the unctuous palate weight of medium-bodied chardonnay. Sound good? It definitely is - and this 2023 release from Gotas de Mar was a real standout for our team when we tasted it in a line up of quality Spanish whites.

It's a gorgeous 'one size fits all' white that is sure to up your 'wine cred' when you bust a bottle out the next time your wine aware friends call around.  

Since it's a coastal grape, seafood is a natural pairing, but godello will elevate any dish with lime or coriander - and loves being paired with lightly spiced shellfish dishes. It can also pair with richer cheeses to bring out their more fruity and floral notes.

Tasting note

This exceptional Godello from DO Ribeiro shines with a brilliant pale lemon color and offers aromatic notes of yellow stone fruits, stony minerals, and a subtle hint of fresh sea breeze. On the palate, it is vibrant and balanced, with a delightful combination of tropical fruits and minerality, enhanced by a mouthwatering acidity. The finish is long and refreshing, leaving a clean, lingering impression.
