Lagavulin 16YO Single-Malt Whisky 700ml

$169.99 $179.99

San Francisco World Spirits Competition has given this bottle four consecutive double gold medals between 2005 and 2008 and it has been awarded plenty more gold in years following.

One of the most famous distilleries in Scotland, Lagavulin dates back to 1816 and is found in the land of great malt whisky, Islay. Lagavulin was one of the first malt distilleries there and one of seven which remain active today.

This incredibly well-rounded 16 year old whisky is dusty and sweet, then positively smoky, hints of roasted chestnuts from a street vendor on a winter’s morning, or a real wood fired pizza with fresh pesto and pine kernels. It leaves the tongue tingling.

Tasting Note

A rich, dried fruit sweetness of the sherry character with clouds of smoke and strong, barley-malt flavours. At the back of the mouth is an explosion of salty and peppery smoke. A big, long finish, warming and peppery with a distinct appetizing sweetness. A little spice lightens the grip of the peat and vanilla.
