Mars Iwai Tradition Japanese Whisky 750ml
In 1949, the Hombo family started distilling whisky at Mars Distillery, led by Kiichiro Iwai. In 1984, production moved to a high-altitude site in Nagano and a lighter style of whisky was introduced. However, they closed in 1992 due to Japan's whisky market crash and reopened in 2011.
The blend consists mostly of malt, with some grain. The whisky is then aged in bourbon, sherry, and wine barrels. A rich gold whisky with complex, sweet honey and malt fragrances, Mars Iwai Tradition Japanese Whisky is soft and rounded, yet full bodied and mellow.
Tasting Notes
The aroma offers notes of honey, followed by a rich, smoky palate with flavours of sweet peat, orange marmalade, maple, burnt sugar cane, cedar, and cigar.
