National Distillery Hot Cross Bun Vodka is a limited-edition New Zealand vodka that turns one of Easter’s most nostalgic flavours into something made for the drinks cabinet. Created by National Distillery Co. in Napier, it was originally released in 2021, with the first 50 bottles selling out on day one. Inspired by the classic spiced bun, it brings together vanilla, chocolate, currant, and warming spice in a style that is playful, distinctive, and far more versatile than the name might suggest.
This seasonal 40% vodka balances sweetness with a gently savoury, spiced edge, with butterscotch, cinnamon, vanilla, and dried-fruit character running through the palate. It can be enjoyed neat or over ice, paired with ginger beer, or used as a particularly good base for an Espresso Martini when you want to add a little Easter spice to the mix.
Tasting Notes
Warm and gently sweet with vanilla, chocolate, currant, butterscotch, and cinnamon, finishing smooth with lingering baking spice.
