Ogier have been a benchmark producer of this blend for over a century and this is a generous example from 2023. Richly textured and brimming with personality, this is a classic Rhône red that hits all the right notes. The nose and palate deliver a vibrant mix of spicy black pepper and ripe red fruit, with a subtle hint of licorice adding intrigue. Predominantly grenache, it’s bolstered by splashes of syrah and mourvèdre for extra depth, structure, and complexity.
A few years back, CdR of this calibre would have been $50 easy - so if you want to put a quality french red on your table but like to play in the under $25 sandpit, this is an absolutely brilliant buy. Rip into it.
Tasting note
A very solid CdR - richly textured wine that has a nice combination of spicy pepper and fruit flavors and a subtle note of licorice. Mainly Grenache but with splashes of syrah and mourvedre to add structure and interest. A full and very attractive palate with freshness and silky tannins makes this a lovely wine.
