Planteray Old Fashioned Traditional Dark OFTD Rum is a powerhouse overproof blend created for serious rum cocktails. Cellar Master Alexandre Gabriel brought together six leading rum experts to help build the recipe, working through more than 1,000 samples before settling on a combination of rums from Guyana, Jamaica, and Barbados. Bottled at a formidable 69% ABV, it takes its inspiration from classic Navy Rum and delivers enormous flavour without simply relying on alcohol for impact. The result has become a favourite with bartenders around the world, picking up Double Gold at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
This unapologetically full bodied rum brings together the deep richness of Guyana, the funky fruit character of Jamaica, and the rounder structure of Barbados. Brown sugar, molasses, caramelised banana, and dark fruit lead into clove, cinnamon, vanilla, toasted oak, and warming spice, with a long, fiery finish that refuses to disappear quietly. OFTD officially stands for Old Fashioned Traditional Dark, although the story from the blending room involves a rather less printable reaction when the winning recipe was tasted. Built with Tiki drinks in mind, it is particularly brilliant in a Zombie, Mai Tai, or any cocktail that needs enough rum character to punch through citrus, syrups, and ice.
