Pokeno's Exploration Series Winter Malt is a warming, indulgent expression built from a uniquely New Zealand mashbill that leans into depth, sweetness and smoky comfort. Crafted from four distinct local malts, including the world’s only manuka smoked malt - this release is all about layering flavour. Chocolate roasted malt brings coffee and cocoa richness, toffee malt adds honeyed sweetness, and Laureate distillers malt lifts everything with soft florals.
Aged entirely in first fill bourbon barrels, Winter Malt delivers a plush, smoky sweetness that feels perfectly at home by the fire. It’s bold, characterful and unmistakably Pokeno - a whisky shaped by local ingredients, craft and climate.
Tasting Notes
Sweet honeyed smoke, chocolate caramel slice, vanilla bean and toffee on the nose. The palate follows with bitter dark chocolate, cocoa bean and creamy fudge, leading to a long, sweet, gently smoky finish.
