Redmetal have long been one of our favourite Hawke's Bay producers and over the years we have developed a monster following for their graceful red wines. This merlot dominant blend with 17% cabernet franc has always been our best seller from their range and the 2025 is another excellent release, and a label update adds another layer of class to this much-loved wine.
In true Redmetal style, this is a softly generous blend that clearly over-delivers on this price point, vinted in a middleweight style.
This is serious, thoughtful wine at a sensible price - a soft, approachable and food-friendly release from celebrated owner / winemaker Grant Edmonds.
Tasting note
The winery: "Medium to dark red/purple in colour with plenty of ripe plum and blackberry flavours with soft tannins and very good length. 17% Cabernet Franc in the blend provides a lot of that purple hue as well as some tannin structure and berry aromatics. Another classic food-friendly style that will reward cellaring for up to 5-8 years."
