Telmo Rodriguez Basa Verdejo 2022 (12x750ml)

Basa is a fresh and textural white from Rueda in northwest Spain made by Telmo Rodriguez, one of the country’s top winemakers and a champion of local grape varieties. This is a blend of mostly Verdejo with a splash of Viura for extra lift and length. In the glass it has a pale lemon colour with aromas of feijoa, ripe pear, mandarin and a touch of soft spice. The palate is mid weight and dry with flavours of lemon peel and green peach, some savoury herbal notes and a slightly chalky finish. Clean, complex and refreshing. Basa is not your typical fruity white. It is subtle, mineral and layered with just the right amount of citrus and texture to keep you coming back for more.

A top value modern Spanish white. Chill it down and pair with fresh seafood or simply enjoy on its own.

Luis Guttierez: "The 2022 Basa, a blend of Verdejo with 10% Viura, fermented and matured in stainless steel. The warm year delivered aromas of ripe yellow fruit and herbs, pollen and some spices with a smoky twist (from the lees?) and a medium-bodied palate with good ripeness and freshness and moderate alcohol (13%). This was bottled without malolactic and is tasty and balanced."
