The Dalmore's 2003 Vintage 18 Year Old is a seriously impressive distillery exclusive that shows just how far Dalmore’s cask mastery can be pushed. Distilled in the Scottish Highlands and aged for 18 years, this release starts its life in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels before being layered with an ambitious mix of rare Matusalem and Amoroso sherry casks, Rivesaltes wine casks and select small-batch bourbon barrels. It is rich, confident and unapologetically luxurious.
Bottled at a bold 55.2% ABV, this is a whisky that delivers intensity without losing balance. Sweetness leads the way, wrapped in warming spice and dark fruit, with a depth that makes it feel tailor-made for slow sipping. It is a proper winter dram, indulgent, warming and built to linger, and a great example of why Dalmore’s vintage releases are so sought after.
Tasting Notes
The nose opens with spiced toffee, thick Manuka honey and Madagascan vanilla. On the palate, layers of baking spice, dark berries and golden syrup unfold, balanced by rich oak and gentle sherry sweetness. The finish is long, warming and delicately spiced, leaving behind honeyed richness and soft maple notes.
