Bog Monster is a true New Zealand original - bold, smoky, and award-winning. Distilled on Waiheke Island from heavily peated Gladfield malt and aged for eight years, it’s a single cask release that shows just how far Kiwi whisky has come. The peat itself comes from the Tussock Creek bogs of Southland, giving this dram its distinctive local character.
First matured in virgin American oak for vanilla, caramel, and spice, then finished in an ex-bourbon barrel for roundness and depth, Bog Monster lets the peated malt shine without overwhelming. With gold medal credentials and the Trophy for Best World Whisky at the 2022 New Zealand Spirits Awards, it’s a limited release that more than lives up to its name.
Tasting Notes
Caramel, orange blossom, umami and sweet smoke on the nose. Rich palate of burnt caramel, ginger, and dark chocolate with a long, lingering peated finish.
