Waiheke Whisky Dyad Operation Manuka Single Malt Whisky is a rare, one-off release that could hardly feel more distinctly New Zealand. Distilled entirely from mānuka-smoked malt and drawn from a single cask, it steps away from Waiheke Whisky’s usual peated style to explore a uniquely local form of smoke. Just 300 bottles were produced, and the experiment will never be repeated, making this an exceptionally limited bottle for collectors and adventurous whisky drinkers alike. It also comes in Waiheke Whisky’s distinctive, modern bottle, giving the release a suitably premium presence on the shelf.
This remarkable five year old single malt was double distilled before maturing in a shaved, toasted, and recharred American oak cask. The mānuka smoke brings an aromatic, earthy character rather than conventional peat, layered with iodine, warm spice, vanilla, and a rich sweetness reminiscent of glazed ham and pineapple. Smoke and coastal salinity build through the finish, giving the whisky a full-bodied, unmistakably island-made character. Bottled at a robust 52%, it is a bold tribute to Waiheke Whisky’s founder and the creative precision behind the distillery.
Tasting Notes
Bold and aromatic with mānuka smoke, iodine, warm spice, and vanilla, followed by rich savoury sweetness, glazed pineapple, coastal salinity, and a full, smoky finish.
